We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

It’s enough to drive you quackers…..

It’s the Jim Clark rally around us this weekend… major planning to go anywhere to get around the road closures.

The last week, every young twit in their noisy little cars thought they were in the damn rally.

Just waiting for one to miss the corner behind our street and jump into the field.

What is this thing?

The Polish builders have left it on site, but I don’t know which tool this is an accessory for. I haven’t seen any big saws or anything… just a couple of drills, a jigsaw and an impact.

It’s Dewalt branded, so matches their gear. Slight spring loaded lever, but jaws aren’t big enough to clamp anything like a door… or even a sheet of ply.

Just interested.

Mystery solved.

It’s a gripper/ bracket for their laser level.

I found it abandoned as well.

Definitely. My 'best' laser level is DeWalt, and came with an identical mount. Never used it - the level has a magnet built in, so it gets stuck on an acro prop if there's nowhere suitable to stand it .

Exactly where I found the laser level…. Magnetically stuck to an H beam.

The underside of that bracket/ gripper thing is a metal plate…. Ideal for sticking something magnetic to. I should have mentioned it in the description.

*Unfortunately, as I’m the only other trade on site, it would be noticed if this rather expensive spirit level disappeared from site. No one else to suspect….

*Disclaimer: I wouldn’t steal another trades tools. Just saying it’s a “nice to have” tool.

Jim Clark Rally cancelled.

Following a crash this morning that resulted in the fatality of one of the competitors, the remaining stages of the rally have been cancelled.

The co driver of one car was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was airlifted to Edinburgh.

No one else was involved

😞

Have signed it.

Petition signed.

What have I been up to today? Hung up the washing that the daughter put in to wash. Put another load in. Did my time sheet for last week. Did the site induction for Kings Lynn power station. Hung up the 2nd load of washing. Fed the fish tank. Did the permit acceptor course for an E-on CHP site (Combined Heat and Power - a small power station that generates electricity and supplies steam to a nearby industry). Walked the dog. Cleaned the filter for the pond and fed the fish. Just updated my expenses and now I'm going to relax, have food and then a 3 1/2 hour drive to tonights hotel. Pretty boring day really :-/

Had a oil tank fill a few days ago and the Apollo Smart Monitor is not being so smart keeps going into Alarm mode and beeping, with the OH's new hearing aids it's annoying her, not sure if I should try to get the transmitter and monitor to speak to each other or just leave the wife in misery. 🤔 What would you do, leave it for a while so she will appreciate me more of try to fix it straight away?

I would pretend to be fixing the problem for the next hour, go and see the OH and tell her it's a bigger problem than you thought. Go to your shed/mancave and pretend to be working on the fault and after another hour or so actually fix it. She'll be really grateful for your hard work.
Good job I read this before posting. Mancave had auto spellcorrected to pancakes :-/

My thoughts exactly, except for the pancakes prefer a good crêpe. 😱

Another week, another power station. Spent the weekend at the diesel gala on the West Somerset Railway then a 5 hour drive up to King's Lynn

It’s a bracket for your Dewalt Laser unit.

Are you sure? I was looking at DeWalt laser levels and I think it's the bracket for one of them

Better stop now with the laser level bracket thing before I have to delete my own messages.

Well, haven't done a stroke so far today. Sat around waiting for permits. Oh the joys of power stations.

Funny you should mention knees, I ended up on mine after stepping on an unstable rock in the river, result is today I am back in my knee brace, hopefully not for long as I have a very important appointment with a F1 Guru next Wednesday to fish his private stretch of the Itchen. WFMSR.

Quiet day so far today. Not too much to do but as it's Sunday it's double time. It's strange how jobs seem to take longer when you are on double time 🤔

I had a nice start to Father's Day, not that it's FD here in Spain, that's in July or August, I don't recall.
Anyway, I had a long walk along the beach with my daughter, dipping my toes in the sea as we went. Then we went to my favourite local restaurant where she treated me to Full Scottish (amended) and a couple of bottles of Alhambra beer...so quite a good day so far!

Hello! My curtain rail has fallen off the wall!
Yes, well not exactly an electrical fault then?
No, but you fitted those ceiling lights last week (the ones with the tiny wee plastic terminal block and the rubber over-sleeve to make it Class 1)
Ok, I'll be there in 10 minutes...
Problem sorted...and usual payment, a litre of Tanqueray gin...
I love the barter system! No income tax, no VAT....as the Trotters used to sing!
Tomorrow morning (Yes, I'm getting ahead of myself here!) I'm off to my favourite club for a walk round the gardens, a walk on the shore, and a Sunday lunch with friends...perfect day of relaxation.

It's a magical place and so peaceful...just what I need.

Also yesterday.

It’s health and safety gone mad!

Apparently I’m no longer allowed candles due to fire risk….
