Has anybody else noticed how the Schneider group seem to have taken over all the individual electrical manufactures in this country. Almost anything you need now seems to have or will eventually have a Schneider logo slapped on it. Is this company to become the Tesco's of the electrical supplies? I hope not but its looking that way.
I also think their web site is ****. You try looking for Merlin Gerin stuff using the old numbers. Its a nightmare. Even more frustrating when you are tied to using a certain name and end up having no choice but to use Schneider. At one point I thought MK went up the Schneider vaccuum hose but I understand they are now Honeywell. You try contacting Merlin or Square D over the phone. Good luck. You have no choice but to ring Schneider. Then you have to tell the old dragon at the reception your entire life history or you won't even get to sit in the 15 minute queue.
I wish I had been born in the 50's. I would be retired now with a nice little pension and only have to worry about whats next on the telly.

Theres one thing i dont like about Schneider, and that is the prices. Some of their MCBs for their 3 ph pan assemblies cost an arm and a leg, especially if its an older one. and i agree they seem to have taken over everybody. Merlin Gerin, Square D, Telemech, and so on.

Cheers...........Howard

spend £1000 on schneider products and get a free tool kit , spent £5k never got my tool kit !!!

We used Schneider for their LV switchboards, Prisma system. Good equipment and the guys who came to our company for a chat were very helpful. Any questions we asked them by email, they got back to us straight away. Have to agree with you regarding finding old part numbers on their web site.

Cheeky young whipper snapper ....................

Noticed today they've taken over GET as well. Personally I hated all their accessories, but they did do good patresses (although crazy expensive). Shame to see all these companies go to schneider.... as has been said, they are consistently the most expensive switchgear in the shop, and Square D, Merlin and the rest of them will go the same way (if they don't completely dissappear).

So now we have:

Electrium: massive recalls
Schneider: massively expensive
MK: owned by a room-stat manufacturer. Hmmmm.

Zahler?

They own Klik as well got some greg roses the other month half the boxes were Klik the rest had Schneider on them.

Think you will find Honeywell make a lot more things than room stats

GET accessories or standard cheap crap with a high price tag.

Would agree with you questioning the brands like Zahler and ECD for stuff like MCBS/RCBOS. Using them all the time now in empty MK or Wylex boards, makes getting the job a little easier as you're paying the earth.

Not see any difference in quality against the big names either

You sure your not getting confused with Hager ??? Last i heard they were owned by them after hager bought out ashley and rock .

Changing the subject slightly, does anybody remember Proteus??? The were sold from CEF who reckoned they were the bees knees. We used them when I was working for a cheap skate outfit in Maldon back in the 80's. Whatta shower of s**t. Are they still going??
