hi all

just wondering, is there anything wrong with using a 3phase dis board for splitphase? i have seen a couple of installes about like this.

cheers.

What do you mean by split phase?

Using the board to power single phase circuits?

This is ok aslong as all phases remain balanced, by which I mean pulling the same amount oif current per phase

hi

460volt beetween phases & 230 between L1 & N & L2 & N.
Yes all single phase loads, just wondering what the best way is 2 x single phase boards or 1 x 3 phase board and double up on the main incomer.what are your thoughts?

I ve seen a three phase board used, you can just blank off all the spare ways , with some boards you can get a doubble pole MCB if you wanted to run any single phase 400v loads at a later dae, another reason for usingone board in sterad of two
hope this helps

Hager do a single phase link kit for their 3 phase DB's.

All you need do is cut one tab off the link and install across two phases in the DB.

I feel that would not be good practice as you would have an un ballanced board also the manufactuer didn't design it to be used like that

Really cant see a problem.

One phase would carry for eg 100A and the remainder spread across the other 2 board phases.

As long as its properly labeled, it should be fine..
