Just having a confusing moment over claiming petrol costs!
I was under the impression that I could claim for my van insurance, tax, mot, tyre changes etc AND my petrol costs at whatever rate the government is paying during that financial year. However, am I right in thinking there are 2 ways of...
I have all the chasing done and back boxes set, coaxial in, and Earthing rod installed outside. I would like to know how much individually for 1st and 2nd fix for 20 doubles, 12 switches, 13 ceiling lights, 4 wall lights, immersion heater, electric shower, cables for 3 PIRs, two phone points...
Hey. I'm new to the PAT testing world and before I get going would really appreciate any help you can give on costing. I'm trying to forecast at the moment - so I don't go jacking my current job in to find myself up the creek without a paddle!
I've seen the amounts people charge per item so...
Hi
Has anyone had experience of claiming the cost of an electrical course against their tax? If you were a sole trader working as an electrician and it was an electrical course for yourself.
Cheers Pete.

Was recently looking at some of the sponsors sites and was tempted to buy some things!
Then I checked delivery charges and for an item costing £36 they want £22 for delivery!
Why when we have a postal service that will deliver it here for the same price as it would cost to post it to their next...
I realise this could be a slightly contentious issue but next year I'm looking at going on my own, now I need to have a vehicle with 4 seats at least and in order to keep costs down I only want to run one vehicle for both home and work. With this in mind and the fact that I'm a Land Rover lover...
If there's a problem with a panel does the manufacturer cover the cost of scaffolding? I thought I knew the answer - that they didn't but then I decided I'm not sure and the warranty isn't really that clear. Any thoughts??
Hi,
Just had an electrician verbally quote me. He charges for domestic jobs £240 per day (or £120 for a half day) labour only. Then he adds material costs+10% for handling (picking up from the wholesalers).
I'm in Wiltshire. Does this seem a fair price?
Many Thanks
James
Had a call from one of our customers asking if we did ashp servicing. They had been quoted £400 from their installer for an annual service and replacement of refrigerant. This negates all savings made from having the ashp - it seemed a bit steep to me - does anyone else know what it should be...
If I were to undertake a job that involved say changing a CU what sort of costs would be entailed (other than my labour and parts) ?
There is the Local Authority Notification that seems to be fixed £58.75 < £1000, etc.
What about the Certificates?
If the distributor does not have a switch do...

Bazza had shingles. Those of us who spend much time in a doctor's office should appreciate this! Doesn't it seem more and more that doctors are running their practices like an assembly line?
Here's what happened to Bazza:
Bazza walked into a doctor's office and the receptionist asked him what...
Roof Tile Cutting Methods Revised to Control Silica Dust
From 1st October 2012, roofers will no longer have the option of using a cut-off saw to dry cut roof tiles.
According to the HSE, contractors undertaking dry cutting after 01 October are likely to be in 'material breach' and thus be...
We're collecting a couple of 250ltr kits tomorrow to see if they live up to the hype.
TBF the bloke selling them wasn't trying too hard and said rather than give us a heavy sales pitch he could put us in touch with a couple of installers from different parts of the country that have been...
