Does anyone know if an electricians mate can work unaided as an electrician as a competent person and can he get public liability saying he is an electrician?
Does anyone have any experience of the above company, within a CPS capacity, for Inspection & Testing, (in relation to Local Authority Building Control (LABC).
Which one would you recommend, & why, (for the CPS), & which one would you not recommend, & why.

Hi I'm very sorry if my first post is in the wrong place. I'm now starting my own electrical installations company involved in industrial/domestic and commercial installations.
I understand that becoming niceic approved contractor is the long term goal but in the short term could I sign off and...

Hi all,
was going to buy some software to help with certification and heard amtech and easycert are pretty good but have heard now that the Niceic are going to be doing a pay per use scheme where by we wouldn't own the software or indeed the rights so no up front fees.... Could anyone tell me...
E.g. for letting agents. Does everyone go by the book, for example, 3 bedroom semi with gardens, electric shower etc. Old wooden backed wylex falling to bits, no RCDs, no bonding, metal light fittings on early 60s installation with no CPCs,
Do you,

Hi Guys,
I was hoping for your thoughts about the supervision of apprentices/adult trainees?
I had a discussion with someone today about this subject and was hoping for some of your views on the subject.

Whenever I've installed a new consumer unit I normally fill out an Electrical Installation Certificate & an Electrical Installation Condition Report but someone has told me this is too much & that all I need is the Electrical Installation Condition Report. Thoughts? I was under the impression...
Hi, I have done some renovation in customer's kitchen which was changing place of few sockets. After that I certified my job. It was all included in price details before I started anything and she said ok, the price is fine, do it.
So I finished everything, asked for money and she was like...

Since the design of most modern condensing boilers use the boiler casing as part of the combustion system, meaning only a gas safe engineer can remove them how many refuse to wire them up/ remove the case without the gas safe engineer present? and i guess more importantly how many realise that...
At the moment I have electrical wires running in trunking attached the walls, which I find somewhat unsightly, especially
in view of redecoration that I am carrying out at the moment. I would like conceal this wiring in trunking within the walls
(trunking plastered over), which may possibly...
My house, built in 1960, has mineral insulated cabling and a voltage operated earth leakage circuit breaker. We moved in 7 years ago (don't suppose that is relevant though :) )
Due to some rebuilding work the meter needs to be moved, and in preparation for that my electrician has fitted a new...
