Hi Folks,
Went to replace a couple of light fittings today. No CPC on lighting circuit at all, except the supp bonded bathroom fitting. OK that makes sense to me, house was built mid-late 60's.
Advised replacement of 3 class I fittings as a minimum. However, discovered a CPC at a light switch. So I went around with R2 lead and found all switch drops were earthed.
Why would this be the case? Ran out of the new-fangled (remember it the 60's!) 1mm T&E perhaps and just used twin for the CCT cable?
Designed to a previous edition of the regs pre lighting CPC's?
Or was this common practise for a while?
Suppose if (part) rewired it saves on knacking the decor for the s/drops!!
Yours,
