I am getting ready to install a new wall oven that's about 4 ft closer to the panel than the old stove. I have about 4 ft extra cable with the new wall oven location. For code do I need to install a metal box on the wall behind the new oven location or can I run the cable that's coming out of the wall directly to the oven?

Sorry for the delay but you have to have a means of disconnect for appliances. Hard wiring it is not an option because it has to be moved to ever work on it
