spud,- you're asuming a capacitor start-run motor ,there are other ,less used ways of doing it (but your'e probably right :))
sorry for being thick when you say red/blue together ........do you mean the motor or the supply cable ?

Red and blue together would be correct if it has a capacitor ,but it will still work connected the other way ,if it goes the wrong way reverse the field connection:)

I take it he is saying single phase motor on three phase supply. Dont single phase motors usually have the start and run winding internal to the motor and you simply take a phase and neutral from star as live and neutral? so red or yellow or blue for phase and black for neutral?
