Hi .. New on here and green as hell...

I am trying to actuate a 1,2 air valve with a 24v dc solenoid through a 24vdc relay block via a plc ...
i have tried to switch the live , the neutral.. i have tried 110v 240v solenoids and now a 24vdc but as soon as i connect everything up and the relay gets its signal the machine is tripping??? I have used the same set up else where on different machines and it works fine? so what am i doing wrong?

please help this non starter...

Fault on the machine.

Why are you putting all these different voltages through the coil?

hi.. i have tried different voltage coils and still have the same fault regardless of what voltage i am using..

Then if you say you have wired others using the same system and they work, there maybe a good chance that the machine as a fault.

I also notice that your using a PLC have you programmed this yourself?

nope,,, program is set.. mc is a bagging machine.. relay recieves pulse to print bag.. print is heated head.. solenoid only actuates plunger on print head and is not connected electrically to the printer in any way,,, the solenoid is only used to control air flow.. this is why its so confusing.. its such a simple app yet it keeps tripping...

Have you tried changing the solenoid body it’s self or tried it on an independent supply.

Is it tripping the supply when the solenoid turns on or off. Just wondering if your getting back EMF, a reverse bias diode would sort that.

To be honest I’m clutching at straws.

The only thing I can think of...

does the solenoid cap/plug have an led/flywheel diode?

Thinking polarity :whatchutalkingabout

Else a photo will be greatly appreciated, should you want your hell to end! :hanged:

Also can you let us know what is tripping, for instance mcb, rcd, dc power supply unit etc...

(Additional edit as silva.foxx has just informed me of my 1000 post :) woo hoo!!!!!!)

How did I miss this? This is the likely device rather than the solenoid coil/cap!

Definitely check the polarity on this relay... highly likely polarity conscious relay with diode! This mother has definitely bit me on the rump in the past! :reddevil:
