Hi

New to this forum. A DIYer but not one that messes about with electrics but this question is just for interest.

We have just moved to a property and I am trying to sort out the heating system.

1 Downstairs is a hot air system which is totally outdated and fails to heat the upstairs

2 Extension (2 storey) has a 15 kw boiler supplying 3 rads upstairs and 1 rad downstairs. There is a 3 way valve fitted controlling the downstairs on its own stat (used to house reptiles so it’s hot!)and naturally a stat in the upstairs.

I have fitted now 4 rads for the upstairs and my plumber has connected them to flow and return so these 4 rads are on all the time when both or one stat calls to heat in the extension.

I am looking at JG TRVs for these 4 rads connecting to their wireless control box and using the wireless stats to create 4 zones. (Everybody has different heating demands !)

Sorry for the long winded post but can a boiler enable cable be split 2 ways so I can leave this 3 way valve alone and connect the John Guest system as well ?

I believe the boiler enable terminals on the JG wiring centre is volt free,so you may be able to common up the boiler enable signals so both items can fire the boiler
Only thing to watch out for ,is you may have two different circuits inside the wiring centre and would need to be marked accordingly

Thanks Martin. I will pass your advice onto my electrician
