Exactly

I put my car in for an MOT

the garage ring me to say I need new breaks and 4 new tyres

i say no thanks I will collect my car as is...

garage documents the defects and cover their backside

they can’t stop me driving my car away

In fairness we don't know what happened after the video end, what got rectified what didn't.

Personally I wouldn't have energised that switch with the outgoing cable in that state.

Did this Solictor have any electrical experience, a good judge would rip his advice to shreds
Can’t see you being held responsible for a defect on part of an installation you haven’t worked on i.e. you change a light switch and next day occupier gets electrocuted due to defective socket circuit in kitchen!

Agree but Delroy isn't doing that is he he is working on a supply to a Garage light, leaving the lighting circuit in that state is not good practice, anyone getting a belt from that circuit, Delroy would get the blame for leaving it in that state, regardless of who was going to complete it, would it be tested properly? I doubt it.

even if you are only getting paid to get the supply back on....
Yes your responsibility to leave it un a safe condition, how would you feel if Garage owner or someone in his circle of friends and family got hold of a live bit and ended up entangled in all r/that carp in the garage, sorry your Honour he said he was going to rewire it, so I took the cash and Fox Trot Oscared" Naughty.
