I need to install an additional consumer unit. Normally I would put the existing tails into Henley blocks and feed both CU from there, but in this case there is an isolation switch, and the output tails are in metal trunking from the isolator to the CU. The new CU is going next to the old one on the other side of the trunking.

Can I 'daisy chain' the new CU from the old one (taking the new feed from the input of the main switch), or alternatively take new tails from the isolator? I can definitely get 2 x 16mm cables in the isolator - not sure about the old CU switch.

Or should I bring the existing tails out of the trunking into blocks, then both feeds back in the trunking? Can the blocks go INSIDE the trunking? Space isn't an issue I have literally an entire wall of a room - but I don't want it to look like a dogs breakfast either. What's the best method to accomplish this?

This is all in an outbuilding fed by a 60a mcb and 20 m of 16 mm swa to a local isolator (where the trunking starts) if that makes any difference.

I wouldn't consider connecting from the live side of the existing consumer unit or the main switch. Your last suggestion is the best option.
