I Have been asked to come up with something to susupend double sockets from some metal trunking which is about 4mtrs up.

it is to be used for sewing machines which will be dotted around a factory floor

any ideas would be appreciated

Stuffing glands, flex and trailing sockets?
I think there's a maximum length they can dangle - 3m springs to mind for some reason.

unistrut with a foot fixed. bit of strut , horizontal, zebedeed to vertical. zebedee metalclad sockets. fit plastic lid.

stuffing gland and flex sounds like a easy option. maybe from a 13 amp fusespur

dont quite understand what you me telectrix,, have not really used strut before

what do you mean by a foot?

footplate. bolted in floor. but all depends if you want them fixed or a bit flexible.

or, instead of strut, use 2x2 lighting trunking, wire in singles. still have to fix a footplate to floor though.

... Or you could fix a bit of cord to the socket and thread it through a pully fixed to the trunking so it can be hoisted out of the way when not in use.

Duraplug do a retractable cable reel with sockets this may be better than hanging sockets as it you remove machine they can retract rather than hanging for some numpty to play Headers with

i hate things that move! im my mind i have to bolt everything as solid as i can! lol. lighting escapes my judgement, because it isnt supposed to be touched, and its usually well out of harms way.

i would go with the idea of strut, as its likely to be quite strong. if its a long length, then double strut can be used. i dont like the idea of sockets dangling, and then things plugged into them.

ive just re-read the original post, and have thoght of something ive used in the past for shopfitting. you can bolt the socket to the desk, that the sowing machine sits on, and run curly flex to it. the advantages are that it should keep itself taught, and if it is caught, then it has less chance of being pulled out of the trunking or socket, than any other dangling method

thank you all very much,

i think im going to go for the hook ,chain and metal clad double sockets as it will be the cheapest and customer does'nt want to pay very much
