So an informal apprenticeship then? Spending time working with qualified tradesmen is what an apprenticeship is! Either formally where you come out with a certificate at the end of it, or informally where you just get the important stuff and not the certificate.

Now back to the question how do you qualify as an electrician without an apprenticeship.
Dave lighten up, the world is full of so called policemen policing things they've got no clue or agreement with. Why join them. Lets banter about physics or electricery .… by the way you need to hurry cos my wine supply is dwindling:)

Gmes, thats out of order, Dave would kill me with a swift blow to my lower epitathium.

That's what i was hoping for lol

Sorry to disappoint but I don't do biology, his epitathium may as well be his left sock for all I know!

I did my best to get out of biology at school, my teachers also did their best to get me out of biology at school. But sadly to do Physics and Chemistry you also had to do the non-science!

Fair point Dave, how many have you killed just out of interest:)

Well when I was an apprentice there was this earthworm once ;)

I have yet to kill any people, have been called to a house where a dad had put his 2 year old daughter in hospital by carrying out some dangerous DIY and her receiving an electric shock from it. But hey, domestic is easy isn't it, any fool can do it after reading some books and taking advice from a forum!

Hey Dave your human side almost showed there:)
I made up the biological bit you'd swipe with one blow, but it sounded feasible.

I wAs told at school that all I'd amount to would be an electrician and they were right lol

My apprentices have never taken issue with me ;)

Probably starving to death on the meager wages and potatoe droppings from the potatoes they have to carry and hold aloft onto your shoulders, maybe theyre too week to mutter "but Dave please help us we're dying" or "Dave why do we have to do an apprenticeship and work for potatoe shavings"......only kidding I bet your like a father figure really:ihih:

I'm glad for that dig, it's less frustrating than the weird, thinly veiled, pretentious elitism you've had going on previously. I'm sure it is easy, I'm sure commercial is easy, I'll find out soon and I hope I won't get this weird entitlement thing you all seem to have. Literally just electricians.

Were you treated badly as an apprentice?

As far as I am concerned an apprentice is employed to learn a trade. Any idiot can chase boxes into walls, carry toolboxes and make the tea, that's why I'll generally do that whilst keeping an eye on the apprentice as they do the electrical bits.

That wasn't a dig at you or anyone, other than the idiot who hospitalized his daughter perhaps.

There is no intentional elitism in my posts.
There is a massive problem in the industry with substandard work and training. This is not the fault of someone like yourself who is on the receiving end if this training.
The fault lies with those who provide substandard training and convince people that they can qualify as electricians within a few weeks or without years of practical training and experience.

Hey Dave, I was being facetious.....you sound like the ideal boss, and it sounds like your aprentice is in good hands, its just sometimes on here you come across as an arrogant ****.....but maybe me, so I will but out...:smile5:
