Hi all,

What's the situation if someone wanted the combo boiler fitted above the toilet in a bathroom with a shower?

Chances are it will be in zone 2.

Is it not allowed or is it acceptable if it's boxed in?

Would the FCU need to be in the loft or outside bathroom if it was boxed in?

Thanks

Fixed permantly connected equipment is allowed in zone 2 provided it is IPX4 rated, check the boiler spec. It will not need boxing in if it meets that requirement. A 230v FCU will need to be outside of the zones.

is it in the plumbers guide for dummies, the one that says all the pipes at the boiler must be cross-bonded when they're all electrically bonded anyway?

It has to be mounted at a suitable height so as to avoid clashin; yer heid on it when rising from a sitting position on the pot.

As for the leccy bit I'm thinking a patress box with two flex outlets - one for power and the other for control - with the "means of isolation outside of the bathroom.

If you're really clivvor use something like a 5 or 7 way flex and then you only need one flex outlet on a single patress box. ;)

With regard to boxing-in etc........ RTFM!!!!

stick it on the |CU that the builder has conveniently positioned so you don't need steps for access. just stand on the bog. whole estate near me done like that.

You may not believe this but I assure you it's true: My doctor's waiting room has a TV screen mounted about five and a half feet up on the waiting room wall directly above a seat.

Fine if you're someone of Tel's stature I suppose. ;)

assuming the tv is approx. 2'6" high, then the top will be close to the ceiling. should he have it in the attic?

Are you allowed a gas boiler in a bathroom? I'm thinking about from a gas point of view, air flow, fumes etc. Also the likely hood of an extractor fan being installed.
