Hi there, I have no idea if this is the right place to be asking this, but I am really stuck and grasping at straws.
I have some speakers and the plug for them has been smashed into bits by my lovely cleaner. The plug has a transformer in, here is what it says on the plug itself:

AC-AC Adaptor.
Model: SY-12150A-BS
P/N: TAD123000-0020
Input: 230V ~ 50Ghz 200mA
Output: 12V ~ 1500mA 18VA.

I am at a loss as to where to find a plug which will fit it. The side which plugs into the speakers is a small hollow cylinder.
Please can you help me find an adapter to fit?
Thanks

Steve

this should be ok it comes with different jack plugs

wait to see if someone agrees before you order it

Thanks Mr Mark Sparks.
It says 3-12VDC, does that mean that it's an AC-DC converter?
Do DC plugs work for AC appliances? I have no clue at all when it comes to these things, i'm just reading off the back of the plug I have here, that's all i know.

Thanks for taking time to help me, it's much appreciated!

The power supply you have is AC in and out. Thats the little wavy line after the voltages.

If it was DC out it would have a straight line ( -- ) after the voltage

This one will give you the output you require with a little to spare.

High Current AC/AC Mains Power Supplies : AC/AC Power Supplies : Maplin

Most of the multi voltage types are DC.

If this is just for computer speakers the power supply will probably cost as much as the speakers complete with power supply cost new. If you have any diffs or the price is extreme you can PM me and I'll check to see if I have anything that would do.

sorry for that i missed the ac-ac bit :o
boatnic has found the right one

Thanks Boatnik :-)
I saw this one myself before posting but thought there was a problem with it,.. I'm not sure if it is actually a problem, but I couldn't find the exact same type as the one i currently have...
It looks to me like there are three different models ( L53BR, L54BR and L55BR ).
The L54BR has the right voltage, but says it outputs 3.0A, where my speakers say 1.5A. The one that outputs 1.5A seems to output 24V. Or... do you get to chose between them? Also, would it matter if the amps were too high?
I'm sure it's the right one, I just want to make sure before I buy it. The speakers are worth about £40, and I like my speakers so wouldn't mind paying the £15 for this power supply if it would work.

thanks again for your help

Steve

Hi Steve, the 12v 3a on is fine for your purpose, overcurrent only means that it will produce up to 3a so will have some headroom and not be overworked. If your speakers only require 1.5a then that's all they will use. If the speakers are marked as needing up to1200ma then a 1a supply will work ok but may be working at its limit and be more prone to fail earlier. At least the 3a one won't fail from overwork. Just as an afterthought, the same doesn't apply to voltage , excess voltage will fry the speakers so stick to 12v at any current over 1.5a and you'll be ok.. If there isn't a Maplins near you then they are pretty good with the mail order on line.

I'll buy that adaptor and get my speakers working again! Saved me a lot of time and money!
