Part of the range cooker Biff but because of the way induction hobs work apparently on IET site they run at the rating they are given by the manufacturer. It's specified on the cooker that the hob takes 7.8kw.
and what are the chances that all hob rings will be in use at once ? thats what diversity is for.
the rating of the hob itself is irrelevent - its 1 appliance with a total load of 14.9 kW , this is the figure we use for calculating mcb & cable size.
so its still 32A.
There are elements that can't be used while other elements are in use on the oven section, so all the manufactures are telling you is the connected load, not it's ''Actual'' FLC.
The diversity factor for cooking appliances up to 15 KW have been used for over 60 years because they work and have on-goingly proven to work. So as your stated load is 14.9 KW, it will apply to your cooker too...
I have an induction hob and a double oven at home, ....never seen the manufacturers KW rating ever!!!! All wired in 6mm singles on a 32A RCBO... How much more convincing do you need?? lol!!!
Re-wiring a house was spec'd a oven which was a dual fuel range - gas hobs and electric oven(s) - I think the max power was about 7kW, so duly run in some 6mm. When the range turns up I notice the cable with it was a 10mm, looked further and saw the oven had a rating of something like 17kW, nothing like what was spec'd. Warned the project manager that potentially this cooker could trip the 32A RCBO and I couldn't replace the cable without a big upheaval! That was over 2 years ago, hasn't tripped yet (touch wood) and its a rental property now and had a couple of diffent families in there.
If it did trip I could put a 40A RCBO in as the cable is in fact BS8436 and the CCC is much greater than T&E!
I can vaguely remember a mate going to install a rangemaster (for a blue chip comp) and he ended up ringin the manufactures and was told to wire in 10mm, dunno if that helps.
Don't Induction Hobs regulate, how do you stop things from burning, as far as i can see they regulate through either switching or by lowering the frequency both of which reduce the output.
