Basically as the title of my thread says.

I've pretty much always been self employed, work at the moment is quiet and I have no actual trade so I'm looking into training to be an electrician. Over the last few years I've worked with builders, roofers, industrial refrigeration installation and the last few weeks done a few days a week on various sites with a plumber friend. I've always liked the electrics side of things, rewired most of my house, fitted the odd basic fuse box so thought I'd look into training to be an electrician. I'm 44, have bills etc to pay, not a lot of cash to spend on training so hopefully I can do it and work around whatever course I need to do. I've sent an email asking for info at my local college but thought I'd come on here and get advice which might be beneficial before I commit to anything.....

Welcome on Mark-S
There are plenty of informative threads covering the same scenarios and you may be able to pick some advice up from that. Make yourself a cuppa, 3 digestives and plonk yourself in front of the screen and use the search button. If your on a PC or laptop you get similar threads at the bottom so you can go from one to another. All the best - don't worry, you're still a youngster!
