Hi all,

I'm in the process of changing the sockets in my house (just the face plates) and I'm having serious trouble fitting the ones with three wires where there's a spur.

Can I just crimp the three wires together and then one wire out the other end to connect? If not any advice please to try and save some of my dignity whilst trying to change sockets?!?!

Many thanks
Gareth

Thanks for your comments (appreciate it sounded daft as some of you have bathed in(!)) I've tried another new socket now which has been no probs.

Trust me I've got the ompth to do the damn screws up and am not a total retard when it comes to electrics hence my amazement at not being able to sort this out.

Couple of new mk sockets from b&q and jobs a guddan.

Thanks for the positive help!

I'm still looking for the WTF link, but I can only see like and share.....
Back in the real world and not book land bond between the faceplate and back box with a strapper if you have metal faced sockets / switches..

I would say to make sure that you carry out an end-to-end continuity check after all the sockets have been changed, to ensure that the RFC is still intact and safe, but I know that I'll get slated for suggesting such a thing...
