My dog seems to take a keen interest in lamp posts. He hasn't mentioned these type of cut-outs yet as far as I know though.

You specify the gland plate you want with these cutouts when you order, either a brass plate, plate with holes, plate with grommets or one with tubes and worm drive clamps.

My own interest in lampposts has not varied thus far from @DPG dog!......younger studenty days obviously that sort of behaviour is not condoned these days ?

I agree that they don't look pretty but they do work well. In lighting columns the main problem is space, These are compact. Also the base of a column is deemed a secure weather tight compartment.

This is how I was told to do it about 13 years ago as a 2nd year apprentice in the freezing cold. (Snow/Rain) Could not feel my face let alone my fingertips that was my punishment for telling him “I’m here to learn not to work” bad move that had a phobia of lamposts since ?
