Got a house I am working in at moment, customer wants extra sockets downstairs, apart from kitchen the whole ground floor has just 3 double sockets.
The current sockets in the lounge/diner are fed by a 6mm twin and earth( from old cooker circuit that was rerouted when a gas cooker went in) and tests out fine with great IR Readings. From this is a spur in 2.5/1/.5 to the next 2 sockets. It is currently also protected by a 32 amp MCB, fine for the 6mm but not for the 2.5mm so will be downrating the MCB as part of the work to make a compliant radial.
Will use this 6mm feed to supply the new sockets I install as it saves ripping up the lovely wooden floor in the hallway.
What size would you put on the certificate? 6mm or 2.5mm? personally I think the lowest sized cable with a note explaining the different sizes? as it has the lower capacity.

What is every body else doing in this scenario?
