Just had a customer request to ensure his installation is correctly earth bonded prior to install of Water Meter
Now we all know that water is Bonded near to stop cock and gas is before 1st joint on the outlet
But where do we bond Oil Feeds as not in BS7671 ??

It is in bs7671 and it is pretty clear.
All extraneous service pipework should be bonded as near as practicable and ideally within 600mm of the point of entry to the installation, and shoukd also be on the consumers side of any suppliers equipment such as meters and before any branch or tee.

There is nothing to say that gas must be before the first joint, where did you get that from?

Always told that before first joint because the threaded connection to meter ensures better continuity compared to a soldered joint
I think that you are getting confused with before any branch (or T) pipework. Consideration needs to be taken into account of undoing of threaded joints (compression) ie the gas meter etc.

Despite soldered connections being a very good method of making an electrical connection?

Do you get all your regulations and information from 'always told'?
