hi all
can any one give referance to whether you can stick a rod at the load end of a circuit as aposed to supply end.
the job is an existing pme intake in the middle of a bungalow so un able to stick a rod in as concrete floors out in the garden is a lampost serounded by grass and at the post a rod is sunk in with an inspection box. 35ohm armered is conected to rod and insulated from network earth.been looking through book but can not find any referance to where rod should be i am of the apinion that this will work but never come across it this way before fond wish doing other work but not sure if to mention

Why do you need a rod if it's PME'd ?
because in the event of the neutral being lost on the supply network all earthed equipment will come up to 230v as load tries to use earth as a path to network
by putting or a rod and protecting with a rcd this can not happen as there is no contact with pme terminal

The plot thickens.....

So. You're running a supply to an outbuilding or somesuch? If the building has no structural metalwork or water-pipes present, you can export PME to it.

If it has any structural metal work or pipes you can convert it to TT. Make sure there's no earth connection between the CU in the outbuilding and the main earth in the bungalow. Put your spike as close as possible to where you're going to fix your RCD protected CU in the outbuilding and make sure you bond any metalwork back to the CU.
