Hi all as I have said I am in process of leaving the Armed Forces(EOD), I successfully qualified as a sparky in the army and have been for 8 out of 12 years of my career although obviously with tours and other commitments I have rarely touched the trade. I have topped up my qualifications on re-settlement and got my Part p, 2382, 2377, 2392 i have taken the army test 2391 but apparently it doesn't count on civvy street also i have attended an alarm installation course.

My main point is i have my assessment looming soon and I am just wondering the experience levels throughout people who have gone with elecsa and is the assessment anything to be over concerned with?

Thanks Guys

Elecsa are pretty good and are not there to trick you but to determine if you know the regs and can install and test safely. Know your earthing arrangements, sizes of earthing and bonding conductors, Where Ze values are in BGB and 80% rule etc. If you are safe and have the knowledge, you will pass. Check other threads out by searching "Elecsa assessment" Good luck!

The assessment is very straight forward, ensure you have all the correct books, documents, paperwork and qualifications when the assesor arrives. You will be asked a few questions on the 17th edition and the relevant building regulations all of which can be referenced from BS7671 2011 and electricians guide to the building regs so thats very straight forward.

Your on site assessment is pretty simple too he will look at your work and then ask you to carry out a few simple tests in line with te correct procedures.

So long as you are competent you wont fail, to fail is virtually unheard of.

youll be fine they are good bucnch of guys and are often working sparks too not there to catch you out but help you along i always get the kettle on too good luck

You won't have any problems with Elecsa. I'm with them and they have been great!! I piled pressure on myself before my first assessment but it wasn't necessary because the assessor was actually very helpful and understanding of the fact that I was having a total stress fest.

Let us know how you get on?

Good luck .

You will be sent a pack containing all the information that you need and a check sheet.

Tick each section off so that you know you are not missing anything come the assessement.

If after reading the pack and you have any questions post them on here or you can always ring Elecsa you will find them very helpful.

Yeah got the pack, just want it done and dusted to be honest.

Got my paperwork in order and i think ready to go its just stepping into the unknown for me and the joy's of civvy street.
