Hi,

I’ve just moved into a new flat with an Electrastream boiler, and when I first moved in it seemed to get to around 45 degrees in around 45 minutes. Now, (about two weeks later) I’m luck if it gets to 40 degrees in an hour. This seemed to happen after a new shower was fitted.

Can anyone suggest a reason for the increased length of time it takes to heat up? (The manufacture says it should take 50 minutes to get 50 degrees). With the boiler rated at 9kW, I’m keen to minimise the amount of time it takes to reach optimal temperature - anything less than 40 degrees is too cold to shower.

Hi Luke - welcome to you and your very cool bike :)
Water heating slowing down might indicate a fault. Are you renting? Can you describe what the new shower is?

Maybe they put in one of those water saving shower heads, which effectively reduces the water flow, less hot water = less total temp,
especially if you enjoy a good shower !

It’s still the original shower head, just the actual shower itself that was replaced as it had lost pressure, there’s also a temp reading on the boiler itself which take noticeably longer to increase now.

I believe it is taken directly from the cylinder, though the taps in the kitchen seem to be at odds with the shower temperature (perhaps because the kitchen tap isn’t mixed whereas the shower is?)

Thank you for your replies
