Has anybody downloaded the electrical calculation apps for smart phones? They seem to be a lot of them.
If so, do you think that they are reliable?
Or which would you recommend?

I use Realcalc (scientific calculator app) mostly. It's a good simple and reliable app that has the functions you need without being too overdesigned.

For cable calc apps I have the Draka cable calc app. It's quite comprehensive and includes most common derating factors. It's good for on site reckonings, but I would never use it for a final calculation.

as above. draka cable calc. is quite good for lazy sods who can't be bothered to use a pen and paper. i'm currently searching the intferweb for a " what size cable do i need for a garage/shed/3rd floor flat/log cabin/motorcycle number plate light.

While your at it see if there's one that will calculate cable size for a 75kva, 22kw machine with a 7 kw overload
