Discuss Electricians Arms in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I didn't realise it was an exclusive club, just thought membership was through professional qualification to keep out undesirables and not based on postcount/time of forum membership.
That was the original idea - the Arms was meant to be a place where we could talk about customers, suppliers etc out of public view. You had to link to an advert, website etc and post details in the 'find an electrician' section.
Problem was people weren't posting in there, so a load of senior members were granted access. That's how I got in.
The effect of granting member access this way is that members have proven themselves, and it keeps out 'undesirables'. Instead of discussing suppliers etc a lot of people choose to stay in there to discuss regular topics without getting 'flamed'. Personally I think it works better this way - even the most experienced and knowledgeable electrician in the world can bring down the tone of a forum by being a rounded door handle.
