Extend lighting circuit from fan isolator?

Installing emergency stairwell lighting in an HMO.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't start off from the fan isolator (live side obviously).?

If you liken the isolation switch to a fused spur on a socket circuit, then there is nothing wrong with it .

The emergency lighting should be on the same circuit as the area it serves I take it that this is to be installed on an escape route eg landing.

Then I can see no reason why not as it is on an upstairs regularly used lighting circuit and should there be a power failure on that circuit the emergency light would provide lighting to that area/escape route.Regular testing without endangering the occupiers should be a consideration whether or not it is done through it is done via test key switch.
