I have been asked to install a light into a commercial Extractor Fan above a commercial cooker.
I know it has to be IPX4, but was wondering if anyone has done this before and what is the best light is which also gives enough light for cooking - the cafe owner has left it up to me with what light to use but he wants to keep costs to a minimum

Thanks in advanced

Biggest factor is the high ambient temperature.

Standard fluorescent ballasts dont like being subjected to abnormally warm conditions without adequate vetillation for cooling.

Specialised fittings are available for this type of application, unfortunately they're not chaep.

I as thinking about a metal light holder with 3 cooker hood bulbs installed??

These are designed for use in ovens so can handle the temperature but then have to look at a IPX4 cover over the top
