Hi all, I have been a forum member since july 2013, and today decidced to join the trainee forum as I have got myself a job on the local council as an electrical improver, HAPPYDAYS!!

MY SITUATION IS:

31 years old (late starter in the trade)
I live in swindon, wiltshire, southwest england
I attend swindon colllege
I am just about to finish ( july) my level 2 city and guilds 2365 and progress to level 3 in september
Passed my 17h edition regs in march

weaknesses:
remembering equations for 3 phase (it has not come up much but will in level 3)
wiring up contactors (new subject at college,....blows my mind, need practice)
worrying too much abut remembering everything..

be great to touch base with some of you in here and have a chat

You can admit weaknesses here without risk!
(perhaps):38:

3 phase just remember 1.732, the rest is just rubbish (or vitally important, I never remember which!)

Contactors are just electrically operated switches.
Think about the switch and control as separate items/circuits.
I forget the rest, but no worries eh?

your screen name alone reminds me of how old i am!!.....the local newsagent near me dosent do a "mix" section, closest thing was a 15p bubble gum thing !!

15p, in my day i coulda got,.....well deffo a bag of space invaders and 5 "pennychews"....and still had enough change to take the bus home, go to the cinema, buy mum some flowers, have a go on spot the ball, a few pints, paint the house, pay the rent, get the kids a new toy each, fix the lawnmover, buy dog food, pay the meter man, buy a football team.......


......all that and still have change,........from FIFTEEN MILLION QUID!!

THE 80S WERE A GOOD TIME THO EH ?......

i mean i heard tha the berlin wall opened up one day whilst sitting in class waiting for the morning register to be taken, i assumed it was some kind of adventure playground that i must visit, once id played with my teenage mutant ninja turtles, watched DJ Kat, and eaten my spaghetti on toast,....

i wasnt aware i was growing up in "the cold war",....nuclear destruction was a button press away,.....

back in my day you could go to the shop with £1 get bread, milk, butter with money leftover to buy sweets for myself.. But not nowadays....

CCTV everywhere.

As a kid.... 1/2p sweats from the newsagents. Then over night it went up to 1p a sweat!

As an 8 year old I did not understand the power of a Penny. That was a learning curve. Bloody inflation!!!! Cola bottles cost twice as much!!!!!

I feel and act like a 91 year old tonight, think I've spent more time on the A1 and M62 this week than i have in the house... weathers been canny though and I've been working outside
