Doing an EICR today and had an odd, lower than expected, resistance reading on a ring final CPC.
r1 = 0.21Ω
rn = 0.21Ω
r2 = 0.18Ω
R1+R2 = 0.09Ω
I was expecting around the 0.35Ω for the CPC but was quite surprised to see the reading I got.
As this was the supply to a kitchen ring I could see and access all 7 2g sockets (property is empty but tenants were moving in later today) and the 2 switched fused spurs for the washing machine and under counter fridge. So I took all the fronts off and checked all terminations were correct.
The only thing I can surmise is that there is a parallel earth path somewhere on the circuit, but I couldn't see where. Nothing was ran in any conduit that I could see and all the cable entry points had normal grommets. I noted it in the comments section of the report anyway for future reference.
But wondered if anyone else had ever had that happen before? I never have and rang my CPS technical helpline to check and they agreed it is most likely a parallel earth path somewhere. Unless some of you more knowledgeable lot have any other suggestions?
