What sort of prices are you roughly charging for a full s/y plan from scratch? All the controls are supplied I just have to supply cable, SFCU, triple pole isolators, surface pattresses, etc. These are lived in property's and potentially a large contract. Will obviously have to do bonding if not done and the odd sub board if the existing installation is a pigs ear.

£350 plus materials, this is a dying section of electrical work and believe it or not I'm surprised at the lack of skill in this area.

I agree. There are so many electricians who do not do this work.

I can normally get a full system done in a day depending on cable routes and construction materials, I find that the plumbers often have already lifted the boards I need to access so no real chopping of floors to do.
So around £250 plus materials.

i would say so mate - around my parts and in London there is a shortage of tradesman that understand how to wire these systems. My field is mainly underfloor heating and you wouldn't believe how many installers don't have a clue.

im shocked like you say at how bad some are.

people always seem to fail on it during the am2, i don't understand how some people can find it so hard.

if your not sure draw it out and its easy as all your doing is taking cores from point to point (i do boilers but on a larger scale, last one i did was 6 in rotation on a bms system (well i say rotation, stand by/backups)

Agreed - im moving in that direction - ive just done twin boiler (big floor standing units) on a Heatmiser Plus unit with rotation and compensation etc.

Did you install the BMS also?

Recently done 2x 14kw Mitsubishi ecodan's through a kanmor controller with rotation and compensation.

edit: don't know why it appeared with a link.

no, it was an existing panel that was modded by the manufacturer in a police station. we just did the controls to it and removed the controls for the old boilers.

the usual tri-links removed, high limits removed etc and new rotary isolator and high limits installed for each boiler

Not done a Kanmor but have cross paths in the past -

I wonder about all these external systems becuase most boiler manufactures supply the kit to link directly into their own boilers.

I had to question the use of the Heatmiser Plus i fitted this week - it didnt even keep a zone valve open whilst the pump over-run was timing down! had to install a relay to open a valve to allow the boilers to dump the heat somewhere. None too impressed TBH.

Mitsubishi recommended the kanmor, not a bad bit of kit but a pain to program. Couldn't there of been a automatic bypass installed in the pipework?

The was the golden question! - someone dropped a clanger when selling the new boilers TBH - it was easier for me to sort it via the relay than send the plumbers on a 200mile round trip - plus it was commercial and had pipes as big as soil stacks.

Kudos to me - i picked it up and saved them a load of hassle.

I had to go and look at a complete lash up in a children's nursery in twickenham the other week where the salesman had dropped a proper clanger by selling/taking out a system and installing a combi. This place had in the region of 40 sinks lol and the new combi was obviously not meeting their hot water demands.

I'm sure if it had been my mistake everyone else would have had a good laugh!

The owner of the nursery was asking my thoughts and I felt like saying it's completely wrong but had to try and be a little diplomatic as the firm who sold it to the nursery chuck bundles of work my way..... At first though it was hard to keep a straight face lol.

Exactly the same position as you this week, guy in church was asking me about all sorts but had to be conservative about what I was saying because of the work we get. There good lads but sometimes I do wonder.

good money when you know how to troubleshoot those systems. wiring up with supplied plan and parts is easy , finding a fault without any diagram of existing install is a different thing. turned down a job like that in a very very posh house once, did not have a clue what those lot of valves do...

It's not that difficult realy once you know what the colour of the cores do on the valves, you just have to work through the sequence of switching.
