hi all i need somehelp please my mother in law asked me to look at her lights as im a traniee electricians i fort i give it a go she has two standard light fittings celing rose which operate from one sw the problem is when the swicth is on both lights come on when you swicth it off only one goes off. i have an idea what the problem is but i fort id get advice from you profesnalls

If this is not a joke- then its your switch wire. bell it out. how much of a trainee are you? find a lighting diagram.
 
Sounds like you've connected the second light to the supply side rather than the switch line return side in the first ceiling rose, if the second light stays on all the time while the first swiches on/off.
