So I'm currently attempting to find a fault with a 5 ton indoor crane. Right the crane doesn't work at all but there is power all the way up to the panel which is mounted on the crane, I have opened up the controller which hangs down from the actual crane and I have no power going to the controller. Might it be the transformer that is faulty. Keep in mind this is a fairly dated crane. Any help will be greatly appreciated as this is my first post.

Welcom to the forum Clyro :)

You are down as a 3rd year apprentice and tbh this kind of work should only be done by trained engineers in control systems who have a good insight to the relevent regulations. The BS7671 does not cover this.

For you safety and that of others I suggest you do not get involved with this and as an apprentice you should have someone overseeing your work, if they are competent in this field you need to ask them these questions.

I'm going to close this thread on the strength of the fact that you are involving yourself with equipment you should not be getting involved with at your level.
