Snooping around I came across these:

Not doing enough 2'nd fix to buy one but I am tempted to try it out.

If you look at it theres no way that can actually even work

all thoseback boxcutters are useless on anything but plasterboard. and even then they take 10 x as long as a padsaw.

I've never tried these but I was trying to work out how it would work...Probably end up with a really messy oversized hole after using one one those.

I was thinking the same but then I found this on youtube:

Gtranted, this one is a bit of a different design then the earlier one but... seems to work. Althought the bit about 'not hurting the technicians' at the very end is hilariouse XD

Sure, strictly plasterboards usage.

But if already on the topic, any tools or technique you would recommend for brickwork?

Those box shaped cutters look absolute tosh. It takes about 20 seconds to cut one out with a straight multitool blade. How many seconds do you need to save per box, is the job that time critical, are you doing that many boxes it would make a difference ?
Using multitool blades in plasterboard ruins them pretty quickly anyway so you're going to need a constant supply if doing a lot with them. You'll need a single and a double which is about £20 combined. I use one of my sub £2 wood bits that is on the way out. Much cheaper.

for brick, i stitch drill with a 7mm or 8mm sds bit, then whack in a sds scutch chisel.
