I was carrying out an EICR today. The consumer unit was a Control gear direct board. It had one chint MCB in it which had been put in recently. It looked absolutely identical to all the cgd MCB's.

Is Chint in any way affiliated with CGD/Lewden or is this just a coincidence?

Its possible the manufacturing is outsourced to a common factory?

For example MK prior to offloading to Circpro never made their own MCBs, RCDS etc they were all made by Siemens or Schneider - cant recall which and they also did all the R&D. a lot of suppliers own brands are much the same. Lewden have a factory just for the Control Gear/Denmans own brand stuff.
Rexel dont do an own brand as such anymore but do push the bg stuff as the house brand.

Don't CEF deal with Chint???
Cef dont stock them but screwfix do . As said I believe a lot of the so called no make mcbs are made buy the same manufacturers and then branded with individual companies names . I would say this is probley the case with happyhippydad . As for the EICR I would note in on the observation page as info ,as I feel it does not warrant a code .

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking a C3 at most. It's completely safe but it still doesn't sit right..... even though it does!
