Hi first time on this forum and looking for some advice.

I have a second home with incoming network connection as shown below.

I don't like uninsulated wires attaching to the house like this and is dangerous when working with ladders etc. I have looked up the regs, 1988, and as far as I can see the regs would say that an uninsulated wire needs to be min 4.3m above ground, should be safe near buildings and also have an earthed wire underneath the connection. Telegraph pole stay should also be insulated (can see in far right corner of photo)

I contracted the DNO and they flagged it up as a safety issue and sent engineer out. The plan was to possibly route incoming supply underground. It seems as though the local engineer doesn't think it is a safety issue and hasn't done anything.

So.... my question is can anyone help me out in finding out if this situation is compliant with regs?

Thanks for any help

Not an expert opinion as I don’t work for the national grid.
however, what I see there is quite normal for a rural location.

remember that electricity at domestic voltages (as in your case) won’t jump at you over a distance of more than a few tenths of a mm.

if you are massively concerned about ladders then I suggest that you consider putting a sign on the wall warning any trades that might need ladder access that there is an electrical danger above.

but for normal use, I can’t see a problem.
