Hi all, I have popped over from the Plumbers forum, after some advise please. The main circuit breaker on my comsumer unit keeps tripping. Occasionally it will reset and stay on for about 30 seconds then trips again. I have tried switching all off the other circuit breakers off, but the main one still trips. Any idea on what is going on here?

Thanks

your main circuit breaker are you referring to an RCD? If it is try unplugging everything and switching every off like boiler, immersion etc and see if it resets.

As above, wot he said

Think you will probably need a sparky to help you and no doubt you know a few good ones?

Hi Lee, thanks for the reply. yes it is an RCD, I have tried unplugging and turning everything off. It just doesn't reset but after a few tries it will reset then trip again after about 30 secs.

If you are sure everything is unplugged etc then you have a neutral earth fault on at least one of the circuits. A sparky worth his salt should be able to narrow what circuit is causing the problem within a few minutes...finding the fault may take a little longer.
