Discuss mains downlights in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

What`s their IP rating, is there supplementary bonding in place, RCD protection in place, Do the manufacturers instructions say that they are suitable for the location, are you fitting them, are you modifying the circuit, are you competent? So many other factors
 
Personally mate I only fit IP rated downlights in bathrooms, you don't want a call in 6 months cause they are knackered! Steam moisture etc. charge a little extra for them as nowadays there is not a massive difference in price IMHO .
