Hi, I'm hoping someone on here will be able to help me.

I am currently building a large sign for a project. I have never done any electrical work before and as you can imagine i am struggling.

The end product will look something like this:
https://vimeo.com/43737719

http://visitsteve.com/news/exhibitions/private-property-at-charlie-james-gallery/

There will be anything from 4 - 10 bulbs in each letter. And the flashing will be controlled by an Arduino.

Any help or advice would be great! i have no idea how to wire this up.

What bulbs / fittings to use?
How to wire it?
Other parts?

Any help would be amazing as i start to get my head around this.

snowhead's right. You really need to get an electrician or elecrical engineer involved. If you say where you are, someone here may be local to you.

There are loads of things to consider as part of the design process: Is this indoors or outdoors? What lighting power do you need? (somewhat determined by the previous question). Is this a temporary display or designed to last years? Where's it going to be viewed from? ie do you want a tight beam of light or a wide spread? What colour light do you want? Do you want the lamps individually addressable or just complete letters? Are you trying to keep power consumption low (use LEDs) or don't you care about power consumption? What electrical supply is available? Is this going to be accessible to members of the public or is it going to be out of reach and only accessed my maintenance personnel? Do you want the light to turn on and off very quickly (LEDs again) or more slowly (incandescent lamps)? Is this a one-off or are you going to make lots of these?

(I worked as a design engineer for a company making lamp signs for a while.)
