Working on large building containing 55 small business units. Each unit has its own meter and db board, which are all being upgraded.

Clincher....is there any meters, which can monitored down their own network ie rs 485 Cat 5/6 cable to the office managers computer. So readings can be logged for each unit...?

I'm currently doing some mill flats and we are looking into the same thing so far I found a company that do such a system I'll pm you a contact.

Are these whole current or CT meters? You can either have sub meters installed with gsm comes to send all the data back or link the meters together other modbus. There is quite a few options out there to remotely read sub metering.

I know that Schneider digital ct meters that you can fit too their panel boards have a rs232 connection option for remote reading.

Might be worth chatting to them see if they do a standalone option

Rs232 is only good for a few meters.

Any real distance between meter and the device manager will probably be cheapest over Ethernet/ip.

I set up ct power meters to monitor Mccs, that are usually linked through a Plc to a SCADA system, I don't think this is what your after.
