Hi folks,
Told by college that the exams are changing for the level 3 Diploma from September. They are scrapping a lot of the written assignments and replacing them with multiple choice online tests(which were only used for 301, 305 and 309 previously) Details of the changes can be found on the city & guilds website.
What do you guys think?
Cheers.
Jim

As some one who did 3 years of the assignments and hated them I can see why they are changing them but I really dont think they should as online multiple choise exams are just too easy! At least with the assignments you had to really put some work into them as you needed 100 percent to pass the assignment. I really think if they change it back to online multiple choise they will be making it too easy as you can normally rule out 2 of the answers as they are miles off then it is just down to 2 questions 50/50 chance.
When you say from September do you mean september 2014 or 2015?
On the 301, 305, 309 there was still 2 assignments aswell as multiple choise exams.

Seems like a stupid idea to me. I worked through all the assignments over the course and actually quite enjoyed them. I believe our college said there would also be a charge to re-sit online tests if failed first time round.

I agree with Baker, at least when doing the assignments you actually have to put some work in and research things to get them signed off.

I tend to agree with you guys about the changes. I've done up to 305 so far, and think there's a good deal of satisfaction following the completion of the written assignments as they're not easy.

I think they're coming in this September.

I also think that it could fuel the argument that the qualification is getting easier, which is quite frustrating, given the amount of work we're all putting into it!
