Looking to convert a garage to an office in the near future, have the option of extending the rad circuit (paying a plumber) or installing electric UFH myself.

The house will have PV at some point so that will help with the running costs of the UFH but i suspect the cost of the gear is going to be a bit pricier than a rad and a few bits of pipe.

Its my intention to insulate the floor & exterior walls to a u value of 0.15ish.

Anyone recommend one or the other?

Do the maths on the size of matt you will require, then the cost per day. I suspect hiring a plumber and fitting a radiator will be cheaper!

Check out elements electric underfloor heating, it's not the mats though it's on a drum... Good stuff and it even tells you how to measure it out, I've installed loads of it and it's dead easy to put in and the running costs are not to bad either to be honest.

good luck
