Yep standby knocks the hell out of me.
 
I only had to do nightshift for 3 weeks, you didn't know what meal to be eating, dinner in the morning? breakfast at 5 in the evening?, breaking into an office at 2am to get some sleep?
 
Just shunt your day around. It’s not difficult unless you make it so.

it wasn't much craic though, we were babysitting a robot that had to run throughout the night, the fitter was full as a knackers gypsy's bra, I didn't know the night shift workers and felt I was missing out on the craic with the day shift workers

Breakfast when you get home, few hours sleep up for the afternoon and have tea at a normal time then some food on your breaks, I did nightshifts for 18 months and that's what helped me get through it, we used to graft like mad for a few hours then cabin up for some sleep then back out for an hour or so before the day shift landed
