Not the usual per-1966 sort of "no CPC in wiring issue" but plastic light switches in plastic back-boxes in trunking wired in singles. The lights have CPCs and measured Zs, RCBO trip-time, etc, all good. However, the actual switches lack a CPC.

Now I could run in a CPC to meet the last paragraph of 411.3.1.1 but the problem is there is no terminal on either the back-box or the switch. Probably you can get back-box terminals as there is a bit that looks as if it was moulded for such a terminal, but as it stands absolutely nowhere to park the end.

So what do I do with the end of the cable? Leaving it in a Wago is the obvious thing to do, but I wondered if folks here have better advice?

I don’t think there’s too many options.
Are they normal switches? A few LAP switches wouldn’t cost a lot.
Otherwise yes I’d leave in a wago or in fact ideal connector (as they are cheaper and don’t have to make a good connection in this instance!)

Is this an observation on an EICR or are you undertaking other work on the circuit

If its just an EICR then you can make a note of your findings and thats that

If you are modifying / extending the lighting circuit then you might have to get some 1.5mm earth and attempt to get a bit to each switch just to cover your arse as you will have been the last person to alter the circuit

It is something I will be modifying at some point. The lack of CPC is really an issue for the letter of the regs as it would never be used, but of course we should apply the regs as best we can.
