Outbuilding earth rod

Hello

I have an outbuilding which has its own earth rod, but I am getting a 280ohm ze.

I have checked the ze in the main building and it is 150.

The earth in the 3 core SWA supplying the outbuilding is not being used, is there any reason or part of the regs that says I can't use the main building earth (rod)

I want to avoid banging in another parrallel rod at all costs as there is a lot of cotswold stone its impossible to get anything in.

There is nothing wrong with using the main building earth rod derived MET via your 3-core SWA.

Ok thank you, I am now getting a reading of 155ohms which is good.

Now, Would i be expected to check continuity of the earth from the main house to the outhouse? (in a run through the tests when you would normally check continuity of main earth)

Is the efli test (ze) enough (for the niceic assessor) as I have never used the stakes in ground method and do not have the kit..

Tom, I would urge you to obtain a copy of Guidance Note 3, all of your points are covered and you can be confident in your testing at your assessment.
