Hi I’m new to this forum, hope I can get some good advice.
I want to install 2 outside lights on a wall. They will be the highest IP rated I can get. I was going to use 3 core armoured cable or conduit to run the cable to an RCD protected outside socket on a plug. My question is this, because the circuit is not fixed wired into my house and can only be operated from outside. Do I still need part P. I am competent to do it myself but obviously if it needs part P I’ll get a spark to do. Many thanks.

need more info. is the circuit you are connecting to RCD protected anyway? how are you going to feed SWA cable from a plug? best advice is to get a sparks in to do the job safely. I cover the west and south of Manchester if you're interested.

You don't need two RCDs in line. The one on the outside socket is superfluous.

You can't put a plug on conduit.

If it were me I would possibly use artic cable which is OK for outside provided the socket was not too low where it could be damaged.

Installation work should always have a certificate showing test results. I think you mean is it notifiable?

Are you intending fitting a 13A mains plug (note, I said plug so no need for any thread diversion) on to armoured cable?

Ok I’ll start again. I’m putting some lights on my garden wall they will be wired to a plug I’m going to conduit it so the cable is protected. I’m plugging it in outside to an outside socket and switching on when I’m sat in the garden. Will I get told off, is it safe

I would like to do this but my house has nice smooth plastered walls. Not keen on chasing everything out
If you sited the outside lights just above the height of your ceilings, you could then drill through the wall into the void between your ceiling and floor.
No chasing required.
