Hi,

Obvously im not an electrician, but i can just replace this broken "fuse box" at this heater with insulated crimps instead or something similar, without blowing up the house? Not sure what the connection is in the broken one (see attached). Has this odd metal bit on the back of it. Any tips would be great, thanks

That will be an over temperature cut out device. It will need replacing with a matching part as it looks like moisture has got to it. Then the crimp will need replacing on the wire as you say.

thanks a lot, appreciate the quick repsonse. The company that made it has gone it seems, so no chance of getting a specific replacement - shall i just call this one a day, and give up on this one? Or worth trying to find a similar temperature cut out device? thanks

With the cost of spare parts, availability, postal delays….. and the fact you say you’re not an electrician….

Be cheaper, easier and quicker to buy a complete new heater.

Bathroom? (Guessing due to the signs of water getting into this one) then make sure you buy one suitable for a bathroom.

The component is a temperature operated fuse, commonly known as a klixon.
There's no problem in finding a replacement that looks like the original. The problem is that they come in many different temperature ratings, and unless you can find identifying marks on the old one, you'll have no idea what the rating should be. One with too low a rating is likely to trip for no reason, and one with too high a rating is likely to not trip when it should do, risking a fire.
