Hi all
Just a quick one . I work in a care home with a lot of portable appliances as you would expect that have to be tested annually . My query is what is the required practise for this ie . is it a competent person who can undertake or do you NEED the pat test training cert ?? I steer away from doing it as to be fair not 100% sure of what I actually need but as the other maintenance man in the home seems to know what he is doing .(I say seems very strongly:dizzy2: !)

thanks for any advice guys

Hi papahape.

You just need to be competent as there is no rule or law saying you need the pa testing qualification which i think is c&g 2377.
However it seems that you dont have any idea about whats required so it would be best to undertake the relevant formal training.
Ps even if you use a basic tester that gives a pass or fail result then sometimes you may fail an item that a competent person would be able to pass.

Hope this helps!
