Hello,

Looking at changing out my gas hob for the PIV851FB1E Bosch Induction Hob.

The Induction hob is 7400W and by my calculations this would be 7400/230=32.2A

Was after advice on the best method for install.

Can this be powered direct from the CU with appropriate MCB or is it necessary to have a cooker switch adjacent to the induction hob. Either at worktop level or in a cupboard underneath.

The distance from the CU is around 15m and the cable would be clipped to the joists under the flooring. At the wall it would be behind the plaster board.

Would appreciate advice on appropriate MCB size and cable diameter etc.

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

6mm and a 32A MCB should be fine for that hob, even 4mm maybe, it wont ever draw its maximum current all at once and the 7.4kW is probably measured at 240V not 230. Needs RCD protection at consumer unit, RCD or RCBO. I don't actually think there is a reg saying you need a local isolator but we always put one in, usually inside a nearby cupboard, 45A switch, use a double size switch though, they are so much easier to fit.

Apologies for late reply and thanks. Been travelling a bit. Another question though. With this being an Induction Hob what would the curve type be for the RCBO.
